Gekko Gecko
Ge kok! Ge kok!
Aggressive cry!
Loud mating call!
From clandestine green
To glaring red
Flamboyant scales.
A bas-relief
On sticky branch
To slither tove above.
A quick licked tongue
To moisten eyes
Full lidless orbs.
So lithe
One gecko, on her own,
Can recreate.
Then walk up walls
Or freeze in place
While magic grips our gaze.
Is this a dragon?
Handsome prince?
Or merely Merlin?
Reptilian
Cryogenic
Lacertillian Beast.
I’ll ponder
Study
Gaze in awe.
At your flamboyant self.
