If you are docile to the Spirit, he will help you unmask misunderstandings…

two-of-pentacles

SUNDAY, JANUARY 29, 2023
“Spiritual accompaniment, if it is docile to the Holy Spirit, helps to unmask misunderstandings, even grave ones, in our consideration of ourselves and our relationship with the Lord. The Gospel presents various examples of clarifying and liberating conversations with Jesus. Think, for example, of those with the Samaritan woman, which we read and read, and there is always this wisdom and tenderness of Jesus; think of the one with Zacchaeus, think of the sinful woman, think of Nicodemus, and the disciples of Emmaus: the Lord’s way of approaching. The people who had a true encounter with Jesus were not afraid to open their hearts, to present their own vulnerability, their own inadequacy, their own fragility. In this way, their self-sharing becomes an experience of salvation, of forgiveness freely received.
The voice of the Lord can always be recognized; it has a unique style it is a voice that pacifies, encourages and reassures in difficulties. The Gospel reminds us of this continually: “Do not be afraid” (Lk 1:30), how beautiful is the Angel’s word to Mary! “Do not be afraid”, “Do not be afraid”, it is the style of the Lord, “Do not be afraid”. “Do not be afraid!” the Lord repeats to us today too, “Do not be afraid”: if we trust in his word, we will play the game of life well, and we will be able to help others. As the Psalm says, his Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (cf. 119, 105).”

Two of Pentacles

The picture depicts a man standing by the water, skillfully juggling two pentacles, which symbolizes the juggling of many life circumstances. It’s all about making decisions and setting priorities. You may feel as though you lack the courage to select one option over another. You may choose to concentrate on one item while ignoring another for a while, keeping both alive. This, however, prevents either from thriving.
The Two is entwined in the forces of change and balance, as they always are. The Two of Pentacles may signify something good or bad, but it is a strong indication that the status quo will be upset. There will be difficulties in your future but the ultimate result will be mainly determined by how you react to these challenges. This card’s suit indicates that the ideal result may be achieved via prioritizing, time management, multitasking, and careful preparation.
A juggler is shown on the Two of Pentacles, frantically attempting to keep his two coins in motion. The man is dressed in a red circus-style costume, with a big red hat on his head (which more than likely makes it even harder to juggle). The man’s expression conveys his concern that he will drop one at any minute. So, what happens next? A turbulent ocean can be seen in the distance, with two ships trapped in the ups and downs of the waves.
Not everyone has seen a juggler’s performance. Juggling is a great sight to see, and even more so to participate in. To catch whatever you’re tossing while you juggle, your muscles must respond almost automatically. You develop such confidence in your body that you can catch a ball or a pin with only a look in its direction and toss it up again with ease. It’s almost as if your body is operating independently, pursuing a purpose you’re not fully aware of.

This is the card of maintaining equilibrium. Jugglers must maintain their money in the air at all times, never fumbling. What happens if he doesn’t comply? Who is to say? It’s all he knows that it’s necessary for his survival. Perhaps some great monarch is paying his salary so that he can juggle effectively, or perhaps he is just practicing and needs to keep juggling for his own mental well-being. Whatever the cause, the two of pentacles wants you to maintain balance in some aspect of your life, never putting one item ahead of the other.
Balance is the Key!
The Two of Pentacles may also be indicating that you should go with the flow. A juggler can’t question his motions since his muscles will freeze and the coins will fall if he does. All he needs to do now is go in the direction he’s been directed. Even if the coin travels in an unexpected direction, he must still leap to grab it! Be flexible and move with the flow in your life.
Finally, this card may indicate that you’ve been feeling like you’ve been bending over backward for people lately. You feel like you’re juggling all of your responsibilities, attempting to prevent them from collapsing because you’re overwhelmed by how much you have to complete. The only way to lighten your burden is to drop one or two of the coins you’re juggling – in other words, give up one or two of the duties you’re now juggling. You’ll find it easier when you have fewer things to manage.
Here are some questions to consider while studying the Ace of Pentacles. What is the state of your life’s flow? Do you feel overburdened by your to-do list? Isn’t everything going as planned? How hard do you find it to go with the flow? Or are you attempting to get availability and flexibility that you do not already possess? How do you get the same level of balance as the juggler?
What Two of Pentacles Means for You Today
The Two of Pentacles has appeared today to recommend that you would do well to save your money. If you are thinking of making and big purchases that you are uncertain about, it might be best to wait until you feel certain you are making the right choice. It can signify that there is a new option coming to you that has not yet had time to arrive. The two boats in the background of the card are heading toward each other but there are still turbulent waters between them. Wait until they come together so you can switch directions without having to brave the unruly waters.

Christ brought enlightenment…

“Jesus says He came to bring “sight to the blind”. It is striking that throughout the Bible, before Christ, the healing of a blind man never appears, never. It was indeed a promised sign that would come with the Messiah. But here it is not just about physical sight, but a light that makes one see life in a new way. There is a “coming into the light,” a rebirth that happens only with Jesus. If we think about it, that is how Christian life began for us: with Baptism, which in ancient times was called precisely “enlightenment.” And what light does Jesus give us? He brings us the light of sonship: He is the beloved Son of the Father, living forever; with Him we too are children of God loved forever, despite our mistakes and faults. So life is no longer a blind advance toward nothingness, no; it is not a matter of fate or luck, no. It is not something that depends on chance or the stars, no, or even on health or finances, no.
Life depends on love, on the love of the Father, Who cares for us, His beloved children. How wonderful to share this light with others! Has it occurred to you that the life of each of us – my life, your life, our life – is an act of love? And an invitation to love? This is wonderful! But so many times we forget this, in the face of difficulties, in the face of bad news, even in the face of – and this is bad – worldliness, the worldly way of life.”

page-of-wands

Page of Wands

The Page of Wands is like a rambunctious kid. He has a strong desire to go outdoors and play, and he is always getting himself into trouble and odd circumstances, as well as daydreaming about where he could go next. He never comes home for dinner on time, and he never tells anybody where he’s going. On the other hand, he’s so endearing and idealistic that it’s easy to overlook his flaws. He is easygoing, enjoys being the center of attention, and is a trailblazer in a variety of fields.
This card may also represent communication from afar concerning a trip, a relocation, a new job, or anything philosophical or spiritual. It’s also linked to a time of acclimating to a new environment, as well as fresh disclosures and inventions. This card represents someone full of enthusiasm and can get things going. They may, however, be bullies or throw tantrums when they don’t get their way.
The Page is an indication that you will get excellent news from or concerning a young person. If the card is describing you, it means you have limitless energy, a strong sense of loyalty, and love learning. It may also be a sign of fresh beginnings, such as a new project you’ll be starting shortly or some kind of discovery.
Fear Is The Mind Killer
We’re standing in a desert in the Page of Wands card, with just three tiny hills to break up the monotony. The page himself is before us, a young boy dressed in bright orange, red, and yellow. His cloak and sweater are both yellow, and he wears a white cap with a big red feather on his head. Even his feet have a flaming appearance, with the pieces of cloth hanging from them like little flames. He has a large wand/staff in front of him, and he seems to be gazing at it in amazement, studying it, and contemplating what he should do with it.
This little boy’s most obvious characteristic is his enthusiasm. Every minute of the day, he finds something to do, and he is very passionate about each of them. He’s also the child who comes up with innovative answers to issues; he won’t think about it for long, however, and will just stick to his plan once he’s devised it. The Page would participate in every activity he could get his hands on, and he would walk into each one with his head held high.
The Page of Wands may be asking you to make the same choices as this little kid would. The Wands suit is all about taking action. Consider if you’ve been spending too much time preparing or thinking about things. Maybe the Page is telling you it’s time to dive right in! Given his degree of enthusiasm, the Page may be advising you to find that same amount of excitement in your own life.
Here are some questions to consider while deciding what the Page of Wands card means to you. Is there anybody you know who likes the Page of Wands? What lesson might this person be attempting to teach you? Do you need any of Page’s characteristics? Are you sure of yourself? Inspired? Excited? What good things will come your way if you adopt these characteristics?
What Page of Wands Means for You Today
The Page of Wands has appeared today to encourage your to stay strong in the face of insecurities. When you get that shaky feeling in your body that tells you to be afraid, allow it to move through you without trying to push it away. The energy of the page is that of a courageous person who has not yet fully matured. He may be convinced that he is free from fear but when faced with certain situations he may become paralyzed. Stay with the feelings in your body and the light of your awareness will allow them to integrate in a healthy manner.

Make room for the word…

words-0wl

THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2023
“Here is Jesus’ invitation: God has come close to you; recognize his presence, make room for his Word, and you will change your outlook on life.  I can also put it like this: place your life under the Word of God.  This is the path the Church shows us.  All of us, even the pastors of the Church, are under the authority of the Word of God.  Not under our own tastes, tendencies and preferences, but under the one Word of God that moulds us, converts us and calls us to be united in the one Church of Christ.
So, brothers and sisters, we can ask ourselves: Where does my life find direction, from where does it draw its orientation?  From the many “words” I hear, from ideologies, or from the Word of God that guides and purifies me?  What are the aspects in me that require change and conversion?.”
Pope Francis

two-of-swords

The two swords represent the idea that you have two options from which to choose. Both seem to be excellent options or at least two methods to get the same goals. There is, however, a limit to how many options you may choose from.
This card is all about making a choice. Swords are about thoughts and the sort of energy needed for impassioned decision-making isn’t available while you’re thinking about two things at once. This can also sometimes indicate that you are holding two ideas or beliefs that are incompatible with one another.
The Two of Swords, like crossed swords, symbolizes conflict settlement. An equal distribution of force amid opposition. It’s a deadlock. It may mean that you are in a position to arbitrate a dispute, or it could signal that you are stuck in a conundrum with no obvious solution. You have options, and resolving this situation will most likely offer you peace of mind.
Have you heard the phrase “an unstoppable force against an immovable obstacle” before? The Unstoppable Force Contradiction is the term given to this paradox. It simply poses the question to which there is no known answer: What happens if an item that cannot be stopped collides with an object that cannot be moved? They don’t shatter since they’re both believed to be indestructible. The solution to this puzzle may never be discovered, but the Two of Swords is a compelling illustration of an immovable object.

On the Two of Swords, we see a vast ocean with a distant island, with the moon hovering over the whole landscape. A young woman in a blindfold stands in front of us, dressed simply in white and wielding two swords crossed in front of her. She is motionless, quiet, and immobile, sitting on a stone bench. This is not a person you want to approach, much less touch.
Break on Through!
This card indicates that you or someone near to you is walled off to new ideas and information. They aren’t open to life if they aren’t open to change. Yes, change may be hazardous, but life is perilous by its very essence. If this card relates to your own personal emotions about a subject, remember that life is too wonderful not to allow in. A closed mind may see herself in the shoes of the woman in this card, oblivious to the dangers, beauty, and life around her. She becomes blind in order to maintain those swords held high and never falter.
Another interpretation of this card is that it represents avoidance. The lady covers her eyes with the blindfold not because she doesn’t want to see what’s coming, but because she knows what’s out there… and she doesn’t want to see it. Avoiding an issue may be a good approach to solve it, but it’s more often than not a method to protect ourselves. Examine your own life to determine whether you are deliberately or subconsciously avoiding something.
When you see the Two of Swords in your readings, ask yourself these questions. In what areas of my life am I stuck? Is it possible that I’m obstructing these regions on purpose? Subconsciously? Is there anybody I refuse to see or speak within my life? Why? Is this obstacle beneficial or harmful?
What Two of Swords Means for You Today
The Two of Swords has appeared to warn that you could be blocking yourself in unknown ways. You could have two opposing ideas in your mind at the same time which can create cognitive dissonance and cause you stress. If you pulled this card while asking a question like “Should I do this?”, this card is a strong ‘No’. The positive side of this card is that running up against a blockage like this gives you the opportunity to find out what incompatible ideas you may be holding onto, clearing the way for a better flow of energy.

Move… to lift up those whose hearts are weary…

IMG_0846

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2023
“The Word of God is for everyone.  The Gospel presents us with Jesus always on the move, on his way to others.  On no occasion in his public life does he give us the idea that he is a stationary teacher, a professor seated on a chair; on the contrary, we see him as an itinerant, we see him as a pilgrim, travelling through towns and villages, encountering faces and their stories. His feet are those of the messenger announcing the good news of God’s love (cf. Is 52:7-8).  In Galilee of the Gentiles, on the sea route, beyond the Jordan, where Jesus preaches, there was – the text notes – a people plunged into darkness: foreigners, pagans, women and men from various regions and cultures (cf. Mt 4:15-16).  Now they too can see the light.  And so, Jesus enlarges the boundaries.
The Word of God, which heals and raises up, is not only destined for the righteous of Israel, but for all; he wants to reach those far away, he wants to heal the sick, he wants to save sinners, he wants to gather the lost sheep and lift up those whose hearts are weary and oppressed. In short, Jesus ‘reaches out’ to tell us that God’s mercy is for everyone.  Let us not forget this: God’s mercy is for everyone, for each one of us.  Each person can say, “God’s mercy is for me”.”
Pope Francis

Praise the energy of the sun…let its light morph you… Respect the power of the sun and empower your neighbors so all will radiate love and law and light…

the-sun

In front of a sunflower field, a small child joyfully rides a white pony, representing the inner child in all of us that is awakened by the Sun’s promise of enlightenment. The logical and enlightened Sun has now tamed the darkness inside.
When you draw the Sun card it indicates that wonderful things are on the way. It may be a sign of impending delivery or the arrival of something new in your life. The money you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived, and you’re feeling more confident and rewarded for your efforts. However, you should exercise caution since prolonged exposure to the sun may result in sunburn.
Finding the Sun is a wonderful thing since it is an intrinsically beneficial card. It denotes personal gain, success, and the realization of personal objectives and pleasure if you are prepared to put in the work to achieve them. This kind of reward requires a positive attitude. The Sun has a strong effect on anybody starting a new personal endeavor, such as marriage or starting a family.
The Three Wise Men were brought to the infant Jesus by a star. Pinocchio’s quest to become a genuine boy began with the help of a star. We teach our youngsters that they should wish on a star. Why? One word comes to mind: hope. We hold out for hope, we’ll fight for hope, we’ll put our money in wishing wells, dreaming, wishing, and hoping. Why should we strive for success if we don’t have hope? The Star card represents the essential ingredient that keeps us moving, functioning, and ticking.

Praise the Sun!
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. When you’re not happy my skies are grey.” The words are well-known enough to conjure up a wonderful image of sunlight. And what does sunlight have to do with happiness? In virtually every culture, the two have been connected at some time. Scientists have found that some vitamins can only be obtained by absorbing sunshine via our skin and that vitamin, unsurprisingly, plays an important role in preventing sadness and keeping us happy. The Sun card gathers all of this energy into one location!
On this card, we see a huge and powerful sun with a human face. The sun’s beams radiated far and wide, all the way to the card’s edges. The child’s arms extended wide with a joyful expression on his face. A wall behind him sprouts sunflowers, and the happy child seems to have fashioned himself a crown out of the blooms!
Happiness may or may not be something you feel often depending on where you are, what you do in your life, and who you spend your time with. When the Sun card appears, though, you should begin carefully considering your happiness, where it comes from, and how much of it you have. Be open to happiness, the Sun card indicates that joy will soon knock on your door.
When drawing the Sun card, there are a few great things you should ask yourself. Where do you find happiness? Is it possible for you to be open to happiness? Should you be happier than you are right now? Are you giving yourself enough credit and appreciation for what you’ve accomplished?
What The Sun Means for You Today
The Sun has appeared today as a positive omen of things to come. Happiness is literally in the cards for you today. It could be that something positive happens today or it could be that you are simply going to be in a good mood for no apparent reason. In some cases, it can also mean that something that has been blocking your happiness will be illuminated and you are going to dissolve this blockage. It’s worth noting that both the Sun and young children like shown in the card have little to no expectation, which is part of what allows them to shine so brightly. Don’t let the expectation of something positive get in the way of your happiness in the present

As the moon moves toward lunation, it is building a strength and energy, almost like pulling back a slingshot and and releasing it!

319079820_1110761406288184_76785943983686266_n

You may feel a little over emotional this week, Lunar Taurus, especially when situations, or people, from your past raise their heads again. This could be related to matters of the heart: a relationship, friendship or family issue; or simply bad memories about a certain experience. With the added time we are spending at home, as of late, you may find it hard not to reflect on your past in moments of quiet contemplation. You will need to be resilient to whatever is going on around you right now and keep moving forward. You could also clash with some family scheduling and this could also cause your feelings to be heightened. But fear not. The emotional whirlpool you are currently floating in is due to calm down sooner than later and you will emerge stronger and more sure of yourself than before.

You will also be deeply influenced by a tender First Quarter Moon that rises in your sign on January 28th bringing grounding, stability, and love into your life as an electric Aquarius season begins. Taurus is the sign of comfort, family, and the heart. In the First Quarter, this moon urges you to enjoy good conversation, food and friends – anything that makes you feel connected to the things that matter. Most importantly, there is a powerful romantic energy in the air, love and tenderness abounds. There is also a sensuality to this lunation, one that implores you to embrace the richness of life. With the influence of the Aquarius sun you are feeling adventurous and experimental, but Taurus asks that you stay grounded and also remember the importance of rest and recovery.

The captivating sensuality around this Moon arrives at an auspicious time. You may feel as though there are some important connections in your life that you need to restore. The energy of love that is carried on this Moon will help you repair important bonds with your friends, family, partner or romantic interest. The past few months may have been challenging for you in this department, with so much needing to be done, life got in the way, and you may have noticed a strain on many of the relationships in your life.

Taurus is one of the most empathic signs, always in tune with the feelings of others and sensitive to changes in mood. So you will feel an intrinsic desire to mend broken bonds and may even come away from things in a far stronger place than you were before in the relationships you choose to really tend to. First Quarter Moons represent “turning points,” so the grounded warmth and tenderness of Taurus infuses this Moon with the potential for resolution, healing, and forgiveness.

There are also conflicting elements at play. The Earth influence from Taurus indicates that we need to root ourselves to the Earth, connect with the present, and repair difficulties from the past. But the air influence of the Aquarius Sun implores us to keep our eyes gazed towards the horizon – towards the future. Hidden within the stabilizing ground is always a potential energy; a life force that can take a simple seed of an idea and grow it into a grand dream.

Finally, you may also notice a tension building in the Universe this week as we approach this First Quarter Moon. Your senses will seem heightened. There is a hint of excitement in the air, and a feeling that things are coming together quickly, but positively and you will need to act soon. As the Moon moves towards this lunation, it is building strength and energy, almost as if it’s pulling back a slingshot. When it reaches the First Quarter this energy will be released. How you choose to use it is up to you.

Are you kind when you dialog? Do you bring peace to to your brothers and sisters? Keep your family together? Consistently and courageously dialog? Do you humanize our societies?

ten-of-cups

The Ten of Cups shows that you’ve achieved a point of maturity, a point of completeness, and it’s time to lean on your family and loved ones for support. You can get the help you need right now. This card predicts joyful occasions with your loved ones, like family reunions. There’s no need to be concerned about the result of any scheduled events; they’ll turn out better than expected. In terms of relationships, it was love that brought these people together, and it will also keep them together. In the end, it’s all about love.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 2023″Kindness is an important aspect of the culture of dialogue, and dialogue is indispensable to live in peace, to live as brothers and sisters, who do not always agree – this is normal – but who nevertheless speak to each other, listen to each other and try to understand each other and to move toward one another. We only need to think of what the “world would be like without the patient dialogue of the many generous persons who keep families and communities together. Unlike disagreement and conflict, persistent and courageous dialogue does not make headlines, but quietly helps the world to live better. Kindness, then, is a part of dialogue. It is not only an issue of “good manners”; it is not a question of “etiquette”, of courteous behaviour…. No. This is not what we mean when speaking of kindness. Instead, it is a virtue to be retrieved and practiced every day in order to go against the tide and to humanize our societies.”Pope Francis

Take risks, long for someone who has gone away, consistently search for the lost, bring them home on your shoulders…

48423473_575247702887695_4820160758857859072_n

SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 2023
“We have heard the parable of the lost sheep found in chapter 15 of the Gospel of Luke (cf. vv. 4-7). Jesus speaks about the lost coin as well as about the prodigal son. If we want to train our apostolic zeal, we should always have chapter 15 of Luke before our eyes. Read it often. We can understand there what apostolic zeal is. There we discover that God does not remain contemplating the sheep pen, nor does he threaten them so they won’t leave. Rather, if one leaves and gets lost, he does not abandon that sheep, but goes in search of it. He does not say, “You got up and left – it’s your fault – that’s your business!” His pastoral heart reacts in another way: the pastoral heart suffers and the pastoral heart takes risks. It suffers: yes, God suffers for those who leave and, while he mourns over them, he loves even more.
The Lord suffers when we distance ourselves from his heart. He suffers for all who do not know the beauty of his love and the warmth of his embrace. But, in response to this suffering, he does not withdraw, rather he takes a risk. He leaves the ninety-nine sheep who are safe and ventures out for the lost one, thus doing something both risky and unreasonable, but consonant with his pastoral heart which misses the one who left, the longing for someone who has gone away – this is something consistent in Jesus. And when we hear that someone has left the Church, what do we want to say? “Let them work it out?” No. Jesus teaches us to have nostalgia for those who have left. Jesus does not feel anger or resentment but pure longing for us.”
Pope Francis

Am I a good shepherd?

treehouse

Do I drink from the wells of prayer?

Is my heart in harmony with those who are confused, lost, far away, and ours?

Do I take time with people who are difficult?

Do I meet the marginalized, and sinners? And bring salvation to them?

FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 2023
” Indeed, to sum up the action of the Church in one word, the specific term “pastoral” is used. And to evaluate our “pastoralness” we need to confront ourselves with the model, confront ourselves with Jesus the Good Shepherd. Above all, we can ask ourselves: do we imitate him, drinking from the wells of prayer so that our heart might be in harmony with his? Intimacy with Him is, as a beautiful volume by Abate Chautard suggested, “the soul of every apostolate”. Jesus himself clearly said to his disciples, “Without me you can do nothing” (Jn 15:5). By staying with Jesus, we discover that his pastoral heart always beats for the person who is confused, lost, far away. And ours? How many times do we express our attitude about people who are a bit difficult or with whom we have a bit of difficulty: “But it’s their problem, let them work it out….” But Jesus never said this, never. He himself always went to meet all the marginalized, sinners. He was accused of this – of being with sinners so that he might bring God’s salvation precisely to them.”

Make decisions and set priorities…
