Poet’s Notebook

Poet’s Notebook

Scribble
Dribble
In the mire.

Scavenge
Stonehenge
Mysteries.

Poet’s Code
Symbols told
Grab you by the Toes!

Around

Around

I fall
I gasp;
I rise
I grasp.

I blink
I bite;
Surrender
Fight.

At once
It’s all;
And then
Quite small.

So,
Who am I to say?
Today…….
It may be different!

APPS

Apparition Apprehend Appropriate

Sometimes
My soul awakens me
At night.

From
Unconsciousness
I perceive
A spector-
Unusual sight.

APPARITION

I lay hold of it
APPREHEND.

An abrupt and fleeting encounter;
An impression that lasts forever.

APPARENT

Obvious, overt, manifest.

APPROPRIATE

I make it my own
Certain, sure
Relevant.

COMPREHEND

Fully understand
Sympathize
Compassionate insight.

Phantasm embraced!

All rights.
Jeanne

Resentment

Bitter, bilious temper
Apoplectic acid
Furious venom
Liverish bile.

Breathes exasperation.
Represses hostility;
Feelings of inadequacy.
Overwhelming powerlessness
To act or express
Acrimony, rage and fury.

“How dare they:
Insult me
Dishonor me
Mistreat me
Outrage me
Affront me
Slight me
Shame me
Deride me
Revile me
Vex me
Tease me
Taunt me
Jeer at me
Step on my toes!!!!!!!

You caught it.
But don’t hold on.
It’s rancid!

Re-send back:
Equity
Understanding
Honor
Respect.

Exhale.

Tapdance

Today
I tap-danced
Through the tabs.

Teased
The sites;
Excited them.

“Til,
Titillated,
They threw
The web
Aloft, afloat, aghast!

‘Twas smithereens
Of bits and bites.
Oooops.

Time to
Reboot
The Time Machine.

Translation

Translation
by Jeanne Poland

Visible vapor from a plane:
Amorphous mysteries.
Skyward clouds that swirl and twine –
As God’s polyphonies.

We reply, from far below,
Elliptic wanderings;
And all comes clear, in music’s call,
The soul’s meanderings.

Carmudgeon

Tongue Twister
by Jeanne Poland

Curmudgeon bites black  bitter brambles,
Stingy mingy meager mites;
Clutches skinflint’s crackly claws
on cheapskate’s dungeon’s rock-hard floors.
Creeeeeak!

(Try saying this 5x rapidly.)

MOMA

Owen wrote Moma in his Apple Photo Book
Over and over again.
Meant to key in Mama to match Papa.
But pressed “o” instead.
Don’t worry, son.
Finger keying is a trick.
It substitutes when it sees a typo, and reverses blends, (BR=RB)
Don’t worry son.
Moma can be pronounced Mom-a.
Or spelled Momma.
Or little one year olds can open their mouths so wide that the “a” sounds like an “o”
As in Moma.
Finally you might see Emily as an art museum,thoroughly modern, well balanced, aesthetic: MOMA!
Then she’ll be right at home; next to Papa,
Poula, Nana, Nema, Bumpa and Don!!!!
