Privacy Rang My Doorbell: “Ding!”

Privacy Rang My Doorbell: “Ding!”

Privacy rang my doorbell: “Ding!”
to ask if I could
“come out to play” before
I vacuumed, dusted and did
the dishes, which glistened in
the sunlight, reflecting yesterday’s delights
and tomorrow’s promises rich with
tastes, aromas, sounds of comfort
and sharing and all I
do in public to serve
those loved before I play!

Documentary

Documentary

Yesterday I watched a zooming
Video on Face-time, while Annika,
My three year old granddaughter,
Ran pell-mell around her house
Showing me the homemade Easter
Eggs and baskets filled with
Hyperactive chocolates and sugar highs.
Her thumb muted the sound
So iPhone switched to silent
Movies flashing ceilings, sky, crib-
She jumped my eyes senseless!!!!!

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope
A Run-on Sentence

Run on fumes:
Frosted breath;

Run on sand:
Cast footprints;

Run on empty:
Leech energy from air;

Run over:
Spill sighs;

Run after
Magic spells;

Run toward
Rest found home.

How To Be A Poet

How To be A Poet

Sit under a rainbow.
Inhale the colors.
Hear the music.
Breathe deeply.
Slowly.
Exhale a stanza.
Edit.
Let the wind take it
Afloat.
Let go.

All rights.

Want to Harmonize

Wanting to Harmonize

Want to harmonize
with Jan
who knows and gives
bows and nods
like I would do.

Want to harmonize
with Don
who sees and hears
my silent inquiries
and gets me there.

Want to harmonize
with family
who jostle and diminish
me: daily dancing
to humility and joy.

The Cloud

Today the cloud was out of control with beeping, messaging and zooming in with
data I neither wanted or needed.

Give me the cold hard rocks
The dense plates
Above the fiery core.

Rather than amorphous tweets
Airborne data pests
From nosy clouds aloft.

I Want To Remember

Starting right here I want to remember:

The way my Grandma’s upper arms

flapped and jiggled

while she knitted our PJ’s,

pruned the peonies,

baked sugared crullers and

climbed the stairs to her 3rd floor apartment

(so we six could occupy floors 1 and 2).

She smelled of lavender,

Her cheeks flushed pink

atop her cool wide dresses.

There was no chagrin

‘Bout being thin;

She was soft with nurturing

and listening.

A fertile figure-emulated

’til my golden years –

And jiggling arms

Arrived.

De Tour

De Tour

De tour went south
And crookedly
De guide, he scratched his butt.

De men, they bawled,
And stupidly
Da way dat chil’en do.

Da women dere,
Dey tugged their drawers
And braved on daringly!
