My Tree House of Poems
first floor:
child mumbling-mistakes
turned to lichen:
fertile fertilizer.
top floor:
vibrant-visions:
eternal.

Some say
there is no now,
just this hairline crack
between the past
and the future
in which we sense
our presence.
Others say
there is nothing
but the now,
and the now
is eternal,
expansive.
This is not an argument.
It’s a paradox.

What child is this?
Meek, mild child;
Full of power-almighty?
What child is this?
Summons light-bright:
Radiates its energy?
What child is this?
Makes stars mid dark;
Carves paths to trod?
What child is this?
Intimate;
Exuding trust and promise?
What child is this?
Eternal earth born:
Sun stands still!
