THE FRUIT FLIES BALLET

Fruitflies
damsel and partners

The fruit flies maneuvered
And danced in my face;
The swatting and grabbing
Did not daunt their pace.

And danced in my face
Did their wings and their tails
So I kept my lips zipperedly shut!

The swatting and grabbing
The switches and whooshes
Did nothing to capture their butt!

Did not daunt their pace
“Til I caught them a-flight
In some vinegar plus drop of soap!

Funny, Jeanne! Have you read the Newbery Medal-winning collection, Joyous Noise. All the poems are about bugs. And David Harrison’s Bugs is another good one. There were little gnat/flies on my grapes the other day. Ick!

When I practice Calligraphy, I use an abcdarian, alphabet sentence, or panrgam.
This one came to mind to accompany this poem:
Seven wildly panting fruitflies anxiously gazed at the dancing kumquats.
Can you find all 26 letters of the alphabet?
