NINE JACK-O-LANTERNS

Ten jack-o-lanterns sitting on the step
One rolled over and the others crept;

Nine jack-o-lanterns lit up from inside
One smoked out and the others sighed;

Eight jack-o-lanterns pointy teeth displayed
One fell off and the others stayed;

Seven jack-o-lanterns noses all
One was huge and the others small;

Six jack-o-lanterns smelled like pie
One like barbecue squash deep-fry;

Five jack-o-lanterns winked their eye
One wept tears of seeds and dye;

Four jack-o-lanterns tipped their hats
One dropped his upon the mat;

Three jack-o-lanterns sported paint
One refused and cried:”I ain’t!”

Two jack-o-lanterns said: “That’s wrong!”
One should say: “I won’t!”

One jack-o-lantern shouted all night:
“I won’t! I won’t! I won’t!”
