Breeze for your sail

by Claudia Serea

Tonight, the world is an abandoned lot

enclosed by chain link fences,
and us, trapped,

two helpless birds,

two fish caught in nets,

two knotted napkins.

But I’ll say to you,

Hang on, love,

hang on.

Don’t raise your white flags yet.

Don’t surrender.
I’m sending you

a breeze for your sail,

sweet wind of faith.
I’ll blow a lock of hair

off your pale forehead
and sing to you

from far away.
Don’t give up, mi amor.
Together, we’ll hang on

the wires of the world.
We’ll billow, sway,

and flutter.
Soon, the fence will crumble

and we’ll dance.

Wonder

Michael'simoji's

I wonder who’s kissing him now?
licking his wounds?
cutting his toenails?
caluses?
sweeping his crumbs?
trimming his beard?
manicures?
buying his socks?
laughing at his jokes?
stocking his pantry?
paying Verizon?
buying the gas?
trusting him each day?
understanding?

I wonder.

The new iPhone has this great app as part of the new operating system.

I’m starting to envy my own creations, called my emoji’s.

Here’s an older one:

This amazing device photographed my face and recognizes me when I swipe it open.

The little padlock swings open. Wonderful!

The cloud backed up my data in under 10 minutes.

I, on the other hand take much longer to update.

Touches are too sensitive, including swipes. (I’ll have to start swiping Don out of the room…sweeping him in one grand gesture; YOU ARE EXCUSED! lol)

So I’ll tip toe through the tulips

gather my baskets while they wait

hum a tune of dandy wine

and swipe the phone that knows my face

my new dance partner!

This is when I personally met the icu, and soon ended up there , unconscious. Three days later, grateful for life!

In ICU, I
see you: tubes to meds: life-lines
to breathe breaths, blink eyes.

I blink back tears: blur
the lines of faith, hope, love:
cling to spirits’ breath.

Geneen Roth:
“but the truth was that sweetness and quiet and stillness weren’t as compelling as angst, drama and the chatter of discontent.
I mean, seriously: “now” just wasn’t sexy or appealing. It didn’t hold promises of splashy parades with cymbals and drums and opera singers thrashing about. The naked now, the one without frills, the one that was always here, just wasn’t as interesting as what could be. What should be. What I wanted to be. I was enthralled, as the Buddhist teacher Choygam Trungpa described it, with the process of “putting make-up on space.”

Finally, and this is going to sound a bit more linear than it actually was or is, love pierced the trance. I realized I wanted something more than I wanted to keep walking through the airports of my mind. I wanted to be here. For the purpling of sunsets and…
