Laura Purdie’s Photo from her 15 words or less challenge.
Stepping
‘tween the rays
spectacle
of golden light
reindeer rays
“twain” again
again, again…

Went to Albany Med for a biopsy.
Lost in the Infinite Hallways.
Chaplin befriends me on the elevator.
Holds my hand for 30 minutes on the way to Radiology.
Forgot the paper script.
They found me electronically.
Soul found home.
Thyroid found needle.
Ears heard doctor.
Heart found hope.
Angels held me fast
As always.

The Soul Selects Her Own Society
by Emily Dickinson 1830 – 1886
The soul selects her own society
Then — shuts the Door —
To her divine Majority —
Present no more —
Unmoved — she notes the Chariots — pausing —
At her low Gate —
Unmoved — an Emperor be kneeling
Upon her Mat —
I’ve known her — from an ample nation —
Choose One —
Then — close the Valves of her attention —
Like Stone —
1862

the call on land-line
switches to voice mail;
then
quickly rings on iPhone.
50 year old friend
waxes strong;
plans a picnic @ the Bay
in the shade:
hot dog memories
marshmallow tid-bits
sweet wine swallows
bitter sweet memories
adventures in the sand.
Must be the fourth of July!
