the man-made pond at Fox Hill made from local granite in Lenox, MA-photo by Owen Poland 5/4/2018 The Westinghouse Estate
the power went
between 2 thunderstorms;
the first while we played in the indoor pool
the second when the electric died
at 9:30PM.
I switched to touch
and pondered the power
that I still had:
in touch, scent, sounds, smells,
and tastes
and in other dimensions
divine and astral.
I saw into space
my feet grounded in marble
and the rocks of Westinghouse.

quicksilver, the super hero keeping company with the Avengers
apparently, it’s very hard to animate silver as it flashes by.
It looks frozen, blue, cold, and actually, translates as mercury,
as in, flairs up and then plummets back with lightning speed!

Blessings
blessings fall like snowflakes in your eyes
bring tears
create frozen channels on your breast
wet your pants in embarrassing places
and scurry to your feet
giving you blue toe.
blessings keep you grateful like fires
in the night
flickering on your chest hairs,
burning in your retina
wafting up genie smoke toward the sky
tempting you to make a wish,
swallow a burning sword
and puff out dragon breath.
beware the death of the blessing
instead hear in the distance
the laughter of God

Giving a Poetry Reading
Some say I’m a witch
casting alchemy spells
or a bitch
with rich relatives
or whisk broom
sweeping up debris
but the truth is
I am a wish for grandeur
a swishing, itching, bristling poet
a rhyming, riotous boisterous bard!

Jeanne Listens to iMac
in the studio with the greatest sounds
We listened to the poems
the music, the beat
of hearts of artists
who jammed,
rejoiced
in words
found
in the deep
and
flew up!
Thankyou Jan Hutchinson, for the prompts extraordiaire!
listen for yourself:

Jeanne in iMovie by Jeanne
while you play on iPad
I reach across the table
to touch your arm
for you are lost in the iPad screen again.
your head lowered to the partner
who blinks and flashes alerts
while I wait in vain
for eye to eye contact
the kind that shows my soul
it sings your song
beats your rhythm
cherishes your words
knows your thoughts
warms at your touch
but you are apart in
autism
poking the iPad
cruising the lane
electric data
going in and out…
I’ll wait for the data
you want to share
when you want
how you want
likely with lavender!

one flower in the bouquet
I know I am only one
of the flowers in the bouquet.
one sweet smell
one petaled velvety rose
one lacy baby’s breath.
but oh the solidarity of those women
loved as one by their man
not sequentially,
not separately
not because of looks
not dedicated housekeeping
not playthings
but an integral part of the bouquet
of patient service to his every need.
I understand
because I had a bouquet myself:
from my papa and down to all the men who served my needs
sequentially.
who nurse me now
in my elder years
with their musty smells
and whitish hairs
and arthritic memories…
together,
they’re a boost!
