Finding myself

Replaced
By a stepmother
On Father’s Day.

Unfamiliar
With the responses
In the catholic church.
But familiar with the ecumenical language
Of Christ Episcopal.

Unable to muster
The mobile com;
Nostalgic for phone booth,
Landlines and quirky operators.

But the heat rises
To 105 and 115 degrees.

Calligraphy Polyphony

Calligraphy Polyphony

In
Chiseled strokes
Worldwide folks
Press and lift
Sway their gift.

In
Complex rhythms
Swiftly, thumbs
Swash and point
Exult, anoint.

In
Cursive Script
From Arabic
And Chinese sets
Come lacy, scrolling nets.

In
Syncopation,
Counter points and melodies
Wave and meet
Rhythm’s beat.
