May Comes Out to Curtsy

E-mail to my sister in law:

I heard the fatigue in your voice on the phone when Don called.
All the Birthdays you hosted! The Tom healing…the Dad healing…all the grandchildren…Aunt Dotty…all the Wisconsin relatives….on and on and on.

Now it is May and Mother’s Day comes out to  curtsy. You are not the mother who says “what’s for me?” but the one who says “what can I do for all my motherly friends?”

Are you not the mirror of your mother? Is that not what she did?
And both of you welcomed me, as a third care-taker? Relieved that a grown woman would take care of your brother.

The circle of humor, patience, good will, enduring listening.
Bless us each and all!

Golden Glow spotlights
love between Nana and Don:
cake’s ingredients!

( Grand-children helped Emily add the pineapple, carrots, nuts, work the blender, clean the bowls, place the candles, and of course, blew them out before Nana had even sucked in the breath to extinguish them.)
( Papa made them wait for the singing until the supper dishes had been put away and the kitchen cleaned. Apparently, patience holds the mix together, like egg yolk in the batter.)

What Do You See?

My iPhone camera saw loyalty.
I saw trust.
Eileen saw her best friend.
Richard saw her calm.
What did Don see?

Richard’s iPhone saw red.
I saw outside the window.
Don saw his iPhone.
Eileen saw opposite glances.
Richard saw our patience.

What do you see?

Last night in Austerlitz, NOT A PILLOW IN THE HOUSE.
Cat finds only soft spot: the baby changing table!
No upholstery! Only straight-back chairs of no-give hard wood.
Arches are screaming: “Where’s my pillow?”
Where’s my cushion in the night?
