ON THE DUSTY TOE OF MY BOOT

Wood floor wax clings to sheen on laces, toes and wheels:
Dancer’s gloss from twists and turns and jumps and spins;
The rink’s smooth soil that grows the steps to follow rhythm’s beat
The heat, the sweet smell of feet a-rolling twirling treat!
Dancer’s gloss from twists and turns and jumps and spins;
Sequins sparkling:reflections on the walls
And ceilings glitter-mirrored balls.
The rink’s smooth soil that grows the steps to follow rhythm’s beat
The disco, waltz and tango choreography
With drums and bass polyphony.
The heat, the sweet smell of feet a-rolling twirling treat
Alive, amidst the blur of speed, the lycra shimmer suit
Mirrored on my skate, the dusty toe of roller boot!

MEDIA GOT IT RIGHT

They got it right: graphs, alerts,
Evacuation plans;
Doppler flashings: East Coast- Great Lakes
North to South: damp to frost
Wind speeds!!! Moon pulls!!!
Irreversibles!
Floating cars, boardwalks, subways.
We weren’t ready for the darkness
Looting
Grasping through our private space.
Our hope’s been struck
Fractured.
Can’t sew it up quickly.
Only SLOW remains.
Slow shallow breaths:
Not the stink of it.
Rather cling to spirit strength:
The grace to walk on water!
Arms extended to the One Who
Lifts me up, makes all things NEW!
He knew. He knows.
More than the media!
I’m in his arms.

Cultured Apples
Apples schooled in culture:
Pruned and grafted, daft and crafted
‘Til they gleam with dapple brilliance
Dipped and mashed and sliced and diced!
Pruned and grafted, daft and crafted:
Works of art for Macintosh
Symbols of a juicy bite, a byte’s delight!
“Til they gleam with dappled brilliance
Like your cheeks reflective glow
When you smile a mile wide… slow
Dipped and mashed and sliced and diced
A treat served cold or spiced ’til hot
With cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg dot!

IMPATIENCE
IMPATIENCE feels important;
Pulls upon my hem;
“I’m here” he moans,
“Vexing you” and then
Pulls upon my hem;
Dribbles through his frown;
Claws me up and down.
“I’m here” he moans,
“To burn you hot:
Your breath to rot!”
Vexing you and then:
Pulled back, you squawk
And gawk and talk and balk!

DESOLATION’S CHILD

My eyes gray: misery’s shadow;
Dusk falls:lays waste the light;
Forlorn, alone, no hope,
Abandoned to the night.
Dusk falls: lays waste the light;
Touch, too, withdraws its stroke.
Awoke me, left, bereft.
Forlorn, alone, no hope,
Desolation’s child
Unprotected, riled.
Abandoned to the night
Tipple’s blight
Unbalanced, withered plight.
Find faith.

A ROMANTIC VIDEO POEM

Another Video Poem which speaks a thousand words musically:
The Ultimate in Kite Flying.
Romancing the wind with 3 kites. . .
One kite is controlled by his right leg, the other two by his hands.
Ray Bethell, a resident of Vancouver, BC is one of the most famous kite flyers in the world. He controls three kites in a ballet set to “The Flower Duet.” When you see two tails together, he’s flying two of the kites next to each other. At about 3:00, all three are together. Notice at the end where he lays two of the kites down, one on top of the other and the third —- well, you just have to wait to see what he does with that one.
WHO LIVES THERE IN THE WALL?

The pipe’s alive: it grunts and groans;
It pings and puffs;
It knocks and rocks the walls;
Spooks tones that talk and moan.
It pings and puffs
Great billowing muffs
Escaping ‘tween the bluffs!
It knocks and rocks the walls
The rafters fall
From large to small.
Spooks tones that talk and moan;
Whose whisper’s on the phone
That whines so all alone?

THE INTIMATE FLAVOR OF MEN IN MY LIFE

Don is bread pudding
Fluffy and warm;
Molds to the box,
But crispy when worn.
Gino’s like pizza,
Exotic and fresh;
Take him to picnics
In Bangladesh!
John is a popsicle
Frozen and trim;
Bite him in bits
His taste to win.
Bob’s like thick licorice
Black chewy bites;
Savor the flavor:
Calligraphy nights!
Dad’s antipasto,
Appetizer Man
Served with Manhattans
And olives in can.
Owen’s an orgy
Of Greek food and fare;
Of skewers and custards
And feta-s somewhere.
Wrap them all up,
Sprinkle caterers throughout;
An endless feast make:
Leave out sauerkraut!
