I dedicate this prayer to my daughter Quenby on her 38th Birthday and to her father a Trappist monk who took the name: Bonaventure.

Pierce my soul with your love, calm and charity.
Let my soul long for you and your home.
Let my soul be dissolved in you, hunger for you.
Bread of Angels, refresh me with holiness, super sustenance, sweet bread.
Let me feed on you, angelic host, fountain of life, wisdom and knowledge, torrent of pleasure, fullness of the house of God.
Let my soul compass you, find you, run to you, meditate on you,
do all for the praise and glory of your name, with humility and discretion, love, delight and perseverance.
Be my confidence, riches, delight, joy, rest, wisdom, portion, passion and treasure.
Fix my mind and heart immovably, Amen.

Owl symbolizes wisdom. Holy Spirit brings wisdom to help us examine our lives; shows us past denial and self deception. He conforms us to the image of God’s son.
Your wisdom-eyes pierce the darkness of the night;
Inner light speeds vision through the trees and haze.
Your gizzard guides you in the storm, the winds
Make way for victory-guardian’s flighted maze.

Stones from the tumbler
roll smoothly
in the hand;
warm the skin
nestle in.
I’m a tumbler stone
worn down
rounded
cuddley…
after 71 years.
No longer sharp edged:
cutting
pointing
directing.
Now,
circumspect
with shiny wisdom surface.
Wisdom
gathered
by rolling,
rushing in the stream,
open to the sun.
Now
I
run
to
ash.
Surrender to my transformation.
Welcome it!
